Crocheted Hats at Elephant Dance

Bringing Knitting to Crochet

Many of the pieces designed by El are created using the art of Tunisian Crochet. Unlike standard crochet, Tunisian Crochet requires the stitch to remain on the hook for the forward motion. These stitches are then removed on the reverse motion making it very similar to knitting, except with a hook. As a result, the piece of work has the continuity found in knitting with the added texture provided by crochet.

This flower hat is one example of Tunisian Crochet in the Elephant Dance Collection.
